Supply Chain Management
Computle designs its blade workstations and runs its own supply chain, rather than reselling servers or workstations built by someone else.
Direct sourcing
Section titled “Direct sourcing”Components are sourced directly from the factories that make them. Computle’s founder built the supply chain over several years of visits to manufacturers in China, and Computle buys graphics cards directly from NVIDIA rather than through wholesalers. Removing reseller margins reduced sourcing costs by 20 to 30%.
In-house engineering and manufacture
Section titled “In-house engineering and manufacture”Computle engineers and manufactures its blade workstations in-house and chooses each component. Readily recyclable materials such as metal are preferred, and plastics such as front bezels are left out. The hardware is on its fourth revision. See Our Approach to Engineering.
Local assembly
Section titled “Local assembly”Rather than shipping fully assembled workstations to each data centre, Computle uses local inventory where possible and ships only the shells, saving around 40 kg of shipping weight per rack. See Carbon Neutrality.
Price stability
Section titled “Price stability”Computle does not change prices mid-contract. When US tariffs increased hardware prices, Computle absorbed them. Articles on Computle’s supplier relationships and hardware costs are in the newsroom at computle.com/newsroom.
